Travelling from Bahrain
- Visa for Bahraini passports
Bahraini passport holders can visit Thailand for tourism without a visa and stay up to 30 days. This rule started on 15 September 2026 and replaced the earlier 60 day visa free stay. Travelling for treatment? Use the medical visa rather than the tourist exemption.
- Medical visa
Thailand offers a Medical Treatment (MT) visa for treatment shorter than 60 days and a Non-Immigrant O medical visa for longer treatment, which usually allows a stay of up to 90 days. Both are applied for online at thaievisa.go.th with a hospital appointment letter, at least 15 working days before travel.
- Flights from Bahrain
Gulf Air flies direct from Bahrain to Bangkok, normally once a day, and the flight takes about 7 hours. Check the current schedule with Gulf Air before booking.
- Time difference
Thailand is 4 hours ahead of Bahrain all year. Neither country uses daylight saving time.
- Language
The main language is Thai. English is commonly used in the international patient departments of private hospitals in Bangkok.
- Currency
The currency is the Thai baht (THB).
- Good to know
All foreign visitors must complete the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card online within 3 days before arrival, even when no visa is needed. It is done at tdac.immigration.go.th and is separate from any visa.
Checked 4 October 2026. Rules change: your case manager confirms visa requirements for your passport before anything is booked.
