Travelling from Bahrain

Visa for Bahraini passports

Bahraini passport holders can enter South Korea without a visa for up to 30 days. They must get an online travel authorisation called K-ETA at least 72 hours before boarding; it costs 10,000 Korean won and is usually approved within 72 hours.

Medical visa

Korea has a dedicated medical visa. The C-3-3 covers treatment stays up to 90 days and the G-1-10 covers treatment or recovery longer than 90 days, up to one year. Both need a confirmed appointment from a registered Korean hospital, so a medical visa is useful when treatment will run past the 30 visa-free days.

Flights from Bahrain

There is no direct flight from Bahrain to Seoul. The trip usually needs one stop, often in another Gulf city, and takes about 12 to 15 hours in total.

Time difference

Seoul is 6 hours ahead of Bahrain all year. Korea does not use daylight saving time.

Language

The main language is Korean. Hospitals that treat international patients have international departments with English speaking staff and interpreters, and some also offer Arabic.

Currency

The currency is the South Korean won (KRW). Cards are widely accepted in Seoul.

Good to know

The government backed Medical Korea Information Center runs a helpline for foreign patients on +82 2 1577 7129. It can help with questions about medical services in Korea.

Halal food is available in Seoul. The Korea Tourism Organization classifies restaurants as halal certified, self certified, Muslim friendly or pork free, and the Seoul Central Mosque in Itaewon has a prayer space and halal restaurants nearby.
